An 88-year-old woman, with a known history of osteoporosis, fell from her bed and could not stand
afterwards. She had severe pain over the right hip region. Physical examination showed shortening
of the lower limb which was also held in external rotation. Marked localized tenderness was
present over the hip joint. As a fracture was suspected, radiographs of the left hip were performed
