Pharmacology for Women s Health includes discussion of basic
pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetic principles so that the health care
professional understands when and how to prescribe; chapters describing
the pharmacology of specific drug categories that are used for a wide
variety of diseases and conditions; agents to promote health as well as
pharmacotherapeutic agents for specific conditions and diseases; and a
section on pharmacology directly related to women s issues such as
pregnancy, lactation and aging. Each chapter addresses drug therapy for
the non-pregnant adult woman, the pregnant woman, the lactating woman,
and the postmenopausal woman. Today s common medication errors include
drug/drug or drug/herb interactions and these are included throughout
the book. Special chapters exist on cutting edge information such as
genetics and pharmacology.
